QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions to help you better understand the benefits and opportunities of renewable energies. Whether you are interested in a sustainable energy supply in the form of PV contracting, discovering the benefits of a solar carport or want to find out more about setting up and participating in energy communities - we offer you comprehensive information and practical solutions.
PV-CONTRACTING
What is PV contracting?
Photovoltaic contracting is a model in which an external provider (contractor) installs, operates and maintains a photovoltaic system on a customer's roof or open space. The customer does not pay for the purchase of the system, but receives either rental income (full feed-in) or the opportunity to use the solar power produced by the system at a low cost (surplus feed-in) in return for the space provided. The contractor remains the owner of the system until the end of the contract term (15-20 years), after which it becomes the property of the customer at no further cost.
What are the advantages of photovoltaic contracting compared to purchasing?
Contracting eliminates the investment costs for the purchase and installation of the system as well as any maintenance and operating costs, as these are borne by the contractor. The customer benefits from regular rental income for the space provided (full feed-in) and/or low energy costs through the purchase of green solar power from the system (surplus feed-in). At the end of the term (15-20 years), the system becomes the property of the customer at no additional cost.
Who is the owner of the PV system in PV contracting?
With photovoltaic contracting, the contractor remains the owner of the photovoltaic system for the entire term and is responsible for operation, maintenance and repairs. At the end of the term (15-20 years), the system becomes the property of the customer at no additional cost.
What are the terms of PV contracting contracts?
PV contracting agreements generally have terms of 15 to 20 years, which enable the contractor to amortize the investment costs for the purchase and installation of the system over a longer period of time.
What happens after the contracting agreement expires?
At the end of the PV contracting agreement, the customer can either take over the system at its residual value, renew the contracting agreement or arrange for the contractor to dismantle the system at his own expense.
SOLAR-CARPORTS
What is a solar carport?
A solar carport is a roof structure to protect vehicles from the weather, which is equipped with photovoltaic modules to generate green electricity.
What advantages do solar carports offer?
As a cost-effective and practical combination of vehicle shelter and sustainable energy generation, solar carports offer a wide range of benefits. Not only do they provide a practical parking option, they also protect vehicles from the elements, extending their service life and reducing maintenance costs. Integrated charging stations for vehicles and e-bikes also create additional added value for users. Thanks to the sustainable generation of green electricity, solar carports help to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce dependence on external energy suppliers, thus protecting against rising electricity prices. The use of self-generated electricity not only reduces electricity costs, but also generates additional income by feeding surplus capacity into the grid. In addition, a solar carport increases the attractiveness and comfort of a property and enhances its appearance.
Are there any subsidies or grants for solar carports?
Yes, there are various subsidies and grants for solar carports from state institutions at state and federal level. We will be happy to advise you on the possibilities for your specific project.
Is a contracting model also possible with a solar carport?
Yes, solar carports can also be installed without investment costs as part of PV contracting.
Can solar carports be equipped with e-charging stations or battery storage?
Yes, the solar carports can also be upgraded with optional equipment such as e-charging stations for vehicles and e-bikes or modern battery storage systems.
ENERGY COMMUNITIES
What is an energy community?
An energy community (EC) is an association of several actors on the basis of the Renewable Energy Expansion Act (EAG) that produce, store, share, consume and sell energy across multiple properties. An energy community consists of at least two members or shareholders who set up an EG as an association, cooperative or partnership/corporation.
What types of energy communities are there?
There are currently four different types of energy communities in Austria: community generation plants (GEA), local and regional renewable energy communities (EEG) and citizen energy communities (BEG).
