AEP launches largest photovoltaic project in the company's history
Ferschnitz – An important milestone for AEP H2 GmbH: With the official launch of one of the largest photovoltaic systems in the region, the company is setting a strong example for renewable energies. Over the coming months, a state-of-the-art 8.5 megawatt plant will be built on an area of around 9 hectares – the equivalent of around 13 soccer pitches. A further expansion of the facility is also planned once the construction work has been completed.
Key players in the project took part in the launch ceremony: Thomas Zeitelhofer (Sales AEP), who initiated the project, Rudolf Mayerhofer, on whose land the plant is being built, and Michael Hülmbauer, Mayor of Ferschnitz, who actively supports the project. Gerald Wirtl, Managing Director of AEP H2 GmbH, also expressed his enthusiasm:
“Today was the starting signal for our largest PV project in AEP’s history! Construction work will begin in around six weeks. Sourcing and detailed planning are currently underway. The construction time will be around four to six months – depending on the availability of transformers.”
The new photovoltaic system will make a significant contribution to sustainable electricity production in the region. In future, the plant will supply green electricity for numerous households and businesses, thus actively driving forward the energy transition in Lower Austria.
Mayor Michael Hülmbauer emphasized the importance of the project for the municipality of Ferschnitz:
“This project not only strengthens the regional economy, but also makes a significant contribution to a sustainable energy supply. We are proud to be able to realize this innovative project in our community.”
A project of this size requires numerous official approvals and expert opinions, which were drawn up in close and constructive cooperation with the relevant public authorities. Thanks to the excellent cooperation of all parties involved, these hurdles were successfully overcome.
Thanks to the close cooperation between AEP, the municipality and Rudolf Mayerhofer, the project will be driven forward quickly over the coming months. Once the construction work has been completed, the plant will be put into operation immediately and make a valuable contribution to clean energy supply.
